Re: Stockbrokers for the SLCAPEX
Mr. Wendt:

I'll look into your suggestion, although trying to enforce something like this, and keep updated lists, is going to prove to be extremely difficult.

UPDATE:

I have decided not to do any further personal trading on the exchange, with the exception of selling some of my CAPX shares to raise capital for programming fees in the future. Any questions, feel free to ask. Thank you.

Capital Exchange » New Lower Transaction Fee Coming - 1.99%, IPO/SPO Fees Reduced
New Lower Transaction Fee Coming - 1.99%, IPO/SPO Fees Reduced
Dear Capital Exchange Investors:

One of my goals when I first came here was to lower the overall fees for investors. In January, I announced some immediate reductions on fees and surcharges which helped tremendously foster trading. In the following months I said it was my goal to get the Transaction Fee down also. Well, that goal has quickly been reached.

Effective July 15th, the Transaction Fee to sell stock through the open market will be 1.99%, a reduction of 0.51%. We are also currently discussing a final formula which could possibly reduce the Transaction Fee for Manual/Private Transfers to as low as 0.99%. With the greatly expanded trading volume and many new companies listing at Capital Exchange, combined with the exchange finally being profitable and debt-free, I can easily pass along savings to you all.

I am keeping the Transaction Fee rate at 2.5% for now through July 15th to just raise a little more revenue for software upgrades. Programmer Hamncheese Omlet has a long laundry-list of things to upgrade based on your suggestions and requests. In the future you'll see all new charts, graphs, a financial reporting area, a better look, and many other useful tools to assist you in making intelligent investment choices here within the game. So I ask for your patience with this.

In the future, if our current growth continues, even lower trading fees are possible. My main goal is to keep this software and website the best it can be. No other stock exchange within SL comes close to our high-level of security and server/software high performance. Unfortunately, that takes Lindens to maintain, so our fees must cover these costs to provide you with the best security and service possible.

Finally, note that effective immediately, Capital Exchange is also lowering the IPO fee for new company listings to 3.99%, down from 5.00%, and the SPO fee to 1.99%, down from 2.50%. This will further encourage more companies to list here, or to create more stock for existing companies, which will result in continued expansion and growth of new traders.

So once again I sincerely thank the 99.9% of you out there that are helping make this dream become a reality. You are all part of this success, and should be proud of what has been accomplished here in 5 short months. But let's strive to make this place even bigger and better in the future.

Capital Exchange Suggestions » Ways to increase activity?
Re: Ways to increase activity?
Wili:

I'm trying to understand your question. The .1% that CEO's get as a Market Maker fee comes from the overall Transaction Fee. For example, our Transaction Fee for selling stock is currently 2.5%. CEO's get .1% of that. In addition, if someone is an Affiliate for that sale, they get .1%. Furthermore, if someone is a stock broker involved in the sale, they could get .25% of that as well. So just because Capital Exchange charges 2.5% to sell stock doesn't mean that's what is kept by the exchange. We try and share the wealth.

Also note that we are dropping the Transaction Fee to 1.99% July 15th, so the amount we take in is going down. I don't favor at all CEO's getting more than the .1% they get now. I think that's enough.

Re: News Story: Edmose Group. takeover bid for its IPO
Just to clarify, this isn't a "takeover bid" - Mr. Mosely has hired a new Communications Director that can better translate Italian to English. I hope in the future he uses her ;-)

CapEx Rules Discussion » Dividends
Re: Dividends
Cecil:

Let's say we mandate a 1-week notification period of when dividends are paid. Someone announces a dividend on the 1st, and pays on the 8th. This means that a bunch of people can come in and buy shares and get dividends for a month they didn't own shares in. That's the negative. Often CEO's announce a dividend this to try and get stock sales up before the dividend is paid, and it works. That's a positive to increase trading volume. I see no problem with this, as long as the dividend is actually paid and not scaled back or unpaid.

Some people wanted a system where dividends would be paid to a shareholder list on a particular day of the month after being announced. For example, let's say a dividend was announced on the 1st, but paid on the 7th using the shareholder list on the 1st. This wouldn't work because our software can't pay on a previous shareholder list.

Other people wanted to mandate dividends paid on only 1 or 2 days a month. For example, let's say we would designate the 1st and the 15th as "dividend payment days" where these would be the only days a company could pay a dividend. This would make things more equal across the board. Just keep in mind that I cannot mandate dividends to be paid at all,....

For now it's our policy to allow companies to pay dividends whenever they want, and announcing in advance as long as they want. Some companies don't give any announcement at all that they are paying a dividend, and I think that's OK too.

I'd be interested to hear what others have to say on the issue.

News Story: CAPX Revenue Passes L$400,000 for June Already
Dear CAPX Shareholders:

It's only halfway through the month of June, and Capital Exchange has already passed L$400,000 in revenue for the month. I am estimating that the dividend paid for CAPX on July 1st will be at least double what was paid in May.

If the Edmose Group (EDMO) and Black Swan Capital (BSC) complete their IPO's before the end of June, it will only further the strong financial position and value per share the exchange already has for June. I just wanted to give CAPX shareholders an update of our progress. Any questions, just ask. Thank you!
